Maintaining the List of Flavors?

Step-by-step instructions for viewing, searching, and maintaining FDA-sourced flavor options within SiCompounding.

Overview

The Flavors section maintains the standardized list of product flavor options available within SiCompounding.
These flavors are sourced from the FDA and can be selected and applied to products during setup and prescribing. https://www.fda.gov/industry/structured-product-labeling-resources/flavor

Each flavor includes identifying information, solubility characteristics, and an active or inactive status.

Flavors are managed within the Codes and Classifications area of Pharmacy Settings.


Accessing Flavors

Follow the steps below to navigate to the Flavors management screen.

Step-by-Step Navigation

  1. Click the FileMaker Pro icon to open FileMaker.
  2. When FileMaker opens, locate the large menu bar on the left side of the window.
  3. Click SiCompounding (near the top).
  4. In the next window, several icons appear across the middle of the screen.
  5. Click Pharmacy to open the Dashboard.
  6. From the blue sidebar menu, scroll to the bottom and select Settings.
  7. Under General Settings, select Codes and Classifications.
    • The Code Classifications section allows users to manage standardized codes for prescription orders.
  8. From the popup list, select Flavors.

Flavors Table

The Flavors window opens and displays a list of available flavors. alt

Table Columns

ColumnDescription
CodeUnique code assigned to each flavor
FlavorFlavor name (e.g., Almond, Banana, Peppermint)
SolubilitySelectable as Water or Oil
StatusIndicates whether the flavor is Active or Inactive

Searching Flavors

  • Use the Search bar in the upper-right corner of the window.
  • Search by:
    • Code
    • Flavor
  • Press the Enter/Return key to display search results.

Managing Flavor Availability

Flavor availability is controlled through the Status field:

  • Active flavors are available for selection and use on products.
  • Inactive flavors are not available for selection in the system.

Updating flavor status allows pharmacies to control which FDA-sourced flavor options are available for use.


Pharmacy Settings (System Foundation)

Pharmacy Settings provide the foundational templates and defaults required for system operation. These settings must be completed before using other areas of SiCompounding. alt

Best Practice: Enter all available and required data for each section and subsection to ensure proper system behavior, compliance, and reporting across SiCompounding.
