Change Dosage Forms Status?

Step-by-step instructions for activating or deactivating FDA-defined dosage forms within SiCompounding.

Overview

The Dosage Forms section contains the official list of dosage forms and corresponding codes sourced directly from the FDA. https://www.fda.gov/industry/structured-product-labeling-resources/dosage-forms.

From this area, users can control whether a dosage form is available for prescribing by setting its status to Active or Inactive.

  • Active dosage forms appear as selectable options in the system.
  • Inactive dosage forms are hidden and cannot be prescribed.

Dosage Forms are maintained within the Codes and Classifications area of Pharmacy Settings.


Accessing Dosage Forms

Follow the steps below to navigate to the Dosage Forms management screen.

Step-by-Step Navigation

  1. Click the FileMaker Pro icon to open FileMaker.
  2. When FileMaker opens, locate the large menu bar on the left side of the window.
  3. Click SiCompounding (near the top).
  4. In the next window, several icons appear across the middle of the screen.
  5. Click Pharmacy to open the Dashboard.
  6. From the blue sidebar menu, scroll to the bottom and select Settings.
  7. Under General Settings, select Codes and Classifications.
    • The Code Classifications section allows users to manage standardized codes used in prescription orders.
  8. From the popup list, select Dosage Forms.

Viewing and Searching Dosage Forms

The Codes – Dosage Forms window opens and displays a list of available dosage forms.

Search Options

  • Use the Search bar in the upper-right corner.
  • Search by:
    • Code
    • Dosage Form
  • Press the Enter/Return key to display search results.

Changing Dosage Form Status

In the Codes – Dosage Forms window, status management is the only available action.

Status Control

  • Each dosage form includes a Status slider:
    • Green – Active
    • Gray – Inactive
  • Toggle the slider to activate or deactivate a dosage form.

Note: Dosage forms set to Inactive will not appear as options when prescribing in the system.

The Pharmacy Settings section contains the templates and default configurations for your pharmacy and must be completed before using any other area within SiCompounding.
