Step by Step

Overview

A pharmacy Point of Sale (POS) system is a specialized software and hardware solution used to manage sales, inventory, and patient information.
Within SiCompounding, SiCash POS Preferences allow pharmacies to configure transaction behavior, tax calculations, security options, and end-of-day cash handling to ensure smooth operations and regulatory compliance.


Step 1 — Open SiCompounding

  1. Click the FileMaker Pro icon to open FileMaker.
  2. When FileMaker opens, locate the left-side menubar and click SiCompounding (near the top).
  3. Click Pharmacy to open the Dashboard.

Step 2 — Navigate to Point of Sale Settings

  1. From the blue sidebar menu, select Settings (located at the bottom).
  2. Under Finances, select Point of Sale.
  3. The Point of Sale window opens, displaying the POS Preferences.

Step 3 — Edit POS Preferences

  1. Click Edit to make changes to the POS Preferences.
  2. The POS Settings window opens.

Step 4 — Configure POS Preferences

POS Item Void Action

Select how voided items are handled from the dropdown list:

  • Delete Item — Removes the item completely from the transaction
  • Reversing Item — Adds a reversing entry for audit tracking
  • Zero Quantity — Sets the item quantity to zero

Sales Tax Rate Calculation

Note: Enter all tax rates in decimal format
Example: 0.05 = 5%

Configure the following fields:

  • State %
  • County %
  • City %
  • Special %
    Used for special sales tax rates enacted by law that do not follow standard geographic rules
  • Sales Tax Rate Total %
    Automatically reflects the combined total

End of Day (EOD) Cash Settings

  • EOD: Cash Reserve
    Defines how much cash should remain in the register at the end of the day or shift.

Register Login Method

Select how staff authenticate at the POS:

  • Username / Password
    Uses system login credentials
  • PIN
    Uses the 4-digit PIN from the staff profile

    Note: This method is less secure but more convenient.


Customer Confirmation Method

  • Select the preferred Customer Confirmation Method from the dropdown list.

Step 5 — Save Changes

  • Click Save after all data has been entered and changes are complete.

Important Notes

The Pharmacy Settings section contains required templates and default configurations and must be completed before using other areas within SiCompounding.
