What Can Be Scanned

SiCompounding supports scanning for records that contain QR codes, barcodes, or UPC codes, including:

  • Patients
  • Orders
  • Physicians
  • Inventory items
  • Products
  • Purchase Orders (POs)
  • Formulations
  • Compounding records
  • Related documentation

Once scanned, the corresponding profile or record is displayed immediately on screen.

QR Codes in SiCompounding

  • QR codes are automatically generated by SiCompounding
  • They appear in the top-right corner of records when logged in
  • Available for:
    • Patient files
    • Inventory products
    • Purchase Orders (PO)
    • Formulations
    • Compounding records
  • QR codes are also included on printable documents

Scanning a QR code opens the exact record tied to that code.

Barcodes and Inventory Scanning

  • Shipping boxes often include barcodes containing product details
  • When scanned, information such as:
    • Lot number
    • Expiration date should populate automatically

Important Validation Notes

  • Always confirm that the scanned lot number and expiration date match the supplier’s documentation
  • Barcodes on outer shipping boxes may not match individual products inside
  • If information does not match:
    • Manually enter the correct data
    • Verify each product individually

Accurate verification is critical for inventory integrity and compliance.

Exiting Barcode Lookup

To exit the Scan Anything… popup:

  • Click anywhere on the popup screen
    or
  • Press Esc on the keyboard

Best Practices

  • Use scanning to improve speed and reduce manual entry
  • Always validate scanned inventory data against supplier documentation
  • Manually correct data when barcode limitations are identified
  • Use QR codes for the fastest and most accurate record access
