Creating and Using Messages?

Step-by-step guide for accessing, creating, and managing patient messages within SiCompounding.

Overview

The Messages feature in SiCompounding allows pharmacy staff to communicate with patients electronically via text. Messages can be sent manually or automatically using templates and notifications tied to patient orders and refills.


  1. Click the FileMaker Pro icon to open FileMaker.
  2. When FileMaker opens, locate the large menu bar on the left and select SiCompounding (near the top).
  3. In the main window, click the Pharmacy icon.
  4. The Dashboard will be selected by default from the blue sidebar menu on the left.
  5. At the top of the Dashboard, click the Messages button.

Accessing Messages

  • The Incoming Messages window opens with:
    • A search bar
    • A date range selector
  • A list of all messages sent will be displayed.
  • Messages can be filtered by:
    • Today
    • Custom Date Range
  • Use the search bar to locate specific messages.

Viewing Message History

  • Select a message from the list to view the complete communication history between the pharmacy and the patient.
  • This history includes all sent and received text messages related to that conversation.

Creating and Sending Messages

  • Messages can be initiated once an order has been placed for a patient.
  • Communication is sent electronically to the patient via text message.

Message Templates and Automation

Standard Message Templates

You can configure templates for commonly used notifications, such as:

  • Order In Progress
  • Order Shipped

Templates ensure consistent and timely communication with patients.

Automated Notifications

  • Automatic notifications can be set up for:
    • Patient refills
  • These notifications are triggered based on system rules and patient activity.

Chat Feature and User Permissions

  • Based on a user’s profile access rights, staff may:
    • Chat with patients electronically at any time
  • The Chat feature:
    • Is located under the patient’s Order
    • Sends messages directly to the patient via text
    • Allows real-time communication for updates or required information
