How Do I Add a New Product?

Step-by-step guide for adding a new product to Pharmacy Inventory in SiCompounding.

Overview

Pharmacy Inventory refers to the stock of medications, supplies, and other pharmaceutical products that a pharmacy maintains for sale or internal use. Inventory includes both salable and non-salable items such as expired or recalled products.

Effective inventory management is critical to:

  • Ensure uninterrupted medication availability
  • Optimize pharmacy operations
  • Maintain regulatory compliance
  • Control costs and reduce waste

This guide explains how to add a new product to inventory using SiCompounding.


Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Open SiCompounding

  1. Click the FileMaker Pro icon to open FileMaker.
  2. When FileMaker opens, locate the large menu bar on the left.
  3. Click SiCompounding (near the top).

2. Access the Pharmacy Dashboard

  1. From the icons across the middle of the window, click Pharmacy.
  2. The Pharmacy Dashboard opens.

3. Open Inventory

  1. In the blue sidebar menu on the left, click Inventory.
  2. The Inventory Dashboard opens.

Start Adding a New Product

There are two ways to begin:

  • New Item button (middle row)
  • + New Product button (top menu)

Click + New Product.


Select Product Category

The New Product window opens. Select the appropriate category.

Common Categories

  • Bulk / Raw Materials | Chemical APIs (most common)
  • Human Prescription Drug
  • Human OTC / Supplements
  • Veterinary Prescription Drug
  • Veterinary OTC / Supplements
  • Clinical Trial Drug

⚠️ If a drug can be used for both humans and animals, select Human Prescription Drug.
